Mid-Year Check In
Is it time to double down or course correct?

We’re already halfway through 2025. It’s flown by, hasn’t it? Personally, this year has felt like an intense sprint. I’ve been spread thin across several areas of my life—growing my coaching practice, supporting clients through big transitions, welcoming a newborn into our family, and trying to stay present for my older girls.
I’ve heard a similar theme in conversations with founders. The calendar is packed with investor check-ins, customer meetings, conferences, and back-to-back internal calls. Let’s not even discuss the unread Slack notifications. Add in the demands of your personal life and it’s easy to lose focus on what truly matters.
The start of summer is the perfect time to pause and reassess. Are you making measurable progress toward the goals that matter most for your business and for you personally? Are you focused on the right levers, or just keeping busy? Are you still motivated by the outcomes you’re chasing, or have they become disconnected from what drives you and your long-term vision? Be brutally honest with yourself here.
I’ve been there myself. I’ve chased goals that felt right on paper, but didn’t reflect who I wanted to become or where I wanted to go in my career. Constant busyness without meaningful progress towards actual goals is like eating junk food. The activity is easy, convenient and satisfying in the moment, but it’s detrimental to long-term health and happiness.
Don’t wait until the end of the year to adjust course. Exceptional results require exceptional clarity, focus and hard work. Now is the time to check in.
Guided Reflection: Why These Questions Matter
For founders and executives, it’s easy to stay in constant motion—busy, but not necessarily productive. I’ve put together a set of questions I use personally and with clients throughout the year. It’s not a checklist, and it doesn’t need to be answered all at once. Instead, it’s a tool to create clarity.
The act of reflection—whether done alone or with a trusted partner—will help you focus on what truly moves the needle, and keep you on track towards meaningful progress.
- What’s actually working right now? Where are you seeing traction or momentum?
- What goals did you set in January? Have you made meaningful progress?
- Do you still care about those goals—or were they just good ideas on paper?
- Are your current priorities moving you closer to long-term success, or just keeping the business afloat?
- Are you showing up how you want to—as a founder, leader, partner, or parent?
- What’s thriving in your life or work? Take a breath and acknowledge it.
- What’s missing? What needs more attention, energy, or intention?
- Where do you need to shift—either by doubling down or changing course entirely?
Take 30 minutes this week—schedule a meeting with yourself or someone you trust—to honestly evaluate your goals. Ensure your efforts for the next half-year are aligned and intentional.
You’ve got six months left. Let’s make them count.
